About Us

Five students, one mission

Printable Smiles is a student-led nonprofit based in the Bay Area. We started with a simple observation: people with limited hand mobility struggle with everyday tools that most people take for granted. We're doing something about it.

The people behind the work

Joel Choi

Founder & Lead

Joel Choi

Leigh High School, San Jose, CA

Hello! My name is Joel Choi and I am currently a junior at Leigh High School. I am planning on majoring in biology or chemistry on a pre-dental track. During my free time, I love to work out, play trombone, hang out with friends, explore the outdoors, and give back to my community. I volunteer at the local library and take interest in virtually everything tech, from building computers to coding. I also currently shadow a couple of dentists in my area. On the flip side, I love to play and listen to jazz!

David Son

Outreach

David Son

Salinas High School · Committed to UCLA

Hi, my name is David Son from Salinas High School. I am currently a senior, committed to UCLA for biology on a pre-dental track. I not only dedicate time to expanding Printable Smiles across California, but also to giving back to communities to improve the experience of maintaining oral hygiene. I've interned at an orthodontic practice as a dental hygienist, and in my free time I enjoy basketball, violin, and exploring nature.

I construct AI agents for startups across the US and UAE, and research how soft robotics and machine learning can help clean ocean trash. I also lead the competitive build team for our school's FTC robotics club. Outside of school, I play saxophone and make music on my own.
